I have been seeing Dr Henderson for several years and he had been watching emerging cataracts for a few years. In the fall of 2012 I began to experience a decrease in vision and I went to Dr. Henderson. At first he did not thing it was the cataracts since six months earlier they had shown no significant interference with my vision. He performed several diagnostic test and during the exam determined that the cataracts had grown rapidly and were now impairing my vision. He recommended cataract surgery and a lens implant. I agreed that this course of treatment appeared promising. The pre-surgical process was seamless both with Dr. Henderson and the outpatient surgical hospital he uses. On the day of the surgery the check in process went with ease. The surgery was done in less than thirty minutes and there was NO pain involved. During the removal of the cataract I felt and saw a cool stream of water cover my eye and saw a bright light. When the surgery was over they sent me home with a patch on my eye. The patch only had to be worn while sleeping or napping so that you would not rub or scratch the eye; so, when I got home I took the patch off and WOW, I knew what the bright light was, my restored vision! My distance viewing was bright and clear. Objects were sharp and well defined, the colors in my house vibrant, the pictures on the wall had found the clarity and meaning they had when they were purchased years ago. After a day of rest, I purchased some reading glasses and I was good to go back to work.
Five weeks later, Dr. Henderson recommended repeating the procedure on the left eye to provide balance and a slight increase in peripheral vision. As with the first surgery, seamless registration process, quick painless surgery and results in line with expectations.
These cataract surgeries and lens implants are very cool technology and Dr. Henderson and his staff implements it with care, effectiveness and efficiency.

"My transition from a visual acuity of 20/400 to 20/15 was all but seamless thanks to Dr. Henderson and his excellent staff. Though I was always comfortable wearing my contacts I was ready to discover life unencumbered by lenses of any sort. The procedure went perfectly as planned and I often wonder if I’m still wearing any contacts and didn’t just forget to take them out for a whole year. Unfortunately it still took me a while after the surgery to stop poking my eye before I went to bed in a vain attempt to pull my contacts out. I highly advise against this though, as I’m not even a trained professional. On the other hand I do highly recommend Dr. Henderson’s office, who all happened to be trained professionals. His experience and passion proved immeasurable to me as a patient who was initially unsure if LASIK was right for me. Thanks guys!"

So when I needed new glasses because I couldn’t read the license plate on the car in front of me, I made an appointment with the Eye Clinic of Austin. I met with Dr. Henderson and I was diagnosed with cataracts at 39 years old. "I had my PRK surgery done in November of ’10, and I can honestly say that it was the best decision I’ve made in my life! I wore glasses for over 20 years up to that point, and the sense of freedom from not having to worry about that, or contact lenses, anymore, has been exactly what I was hoping for. The procedure was quick, painless, and I couldn’t believe the results right off the bat! Recovery didn’t take very long, and once the bandage lenses came out; it was all smooth sailing after that! As a lawyer, my eyes are my livelihood and I approached the entire process with quite a bit of concern. They were very patient with me, allowing me to evaluate my options and ask all the questions I had. I was even given contacts to see what the end results would be. I appreciated the fact that they never tried to “hard sell” and I was an individual in their office, not another sale. By the time I approved moving forward with the surgery, I felt very confident on what kind of outcome I could expect.

"Usually medical procedures are fraught with anxiety, apprehension and sometimes fear. So with some trepidation I visited the Eye Clinic of Austin to have my cataracts removed. My first positive experience with the Eye Clinic of Austin was being able to fill out the necessary medical paper work at home so I could shortcut the tedious office filling-out of forms. After a short wait, I was greeted by surgical coordinator and ophthalmic technician, Kine Reynes. Kine was extremely proficient in administering the tests I needed to take. He easily answered any questions I asked and did so with terms I could understand.
Next, I was greeted by the eye physician and surgeon, Dr. Clayton Falknor. Dr. Falknor viewed the test results and explained in layman’s terms my options and the benefits and advantages of each choice. He, too, answered all my questions and calmed any worrisome thoughts I had regarding the procedure. The decision was made on what procedure I was to have and a few weeks later my left eye cataract was removed and replaced with what I like to call a “bionic” lens. The operation was painless; took no more than 25 minutes to perform; and my eyesight was the best it ever has been since I was a young lad 50 years ago. The day after the operation I received a call directly from Dr. Falknor to make sure I was okay and doing well. How often does that happen in the medical world?
It isn’t usual after an operation that you can say the procedure was “a piece of cake” but the treatment for my cataract was just that. If you have any eye problems, I mostly heartily recommend the Eye Clinic of Austin and their wonderful well-trained staff."

"It is spring and with the season concerns new beginnings, glorious colors and a hopeful heart. Just yesterday I caught a glimpse out of the corner of my eye a flock of Snow Geese. I then was able to take full view as they flew happily above me heading north to their summer home. And, this spring the flowers fill the fields in vivid colors creating a sea of blue waving petals in the breeze and my eyes can see that improvement. There too are the clear faces of my friends the color of their eyes, the crinkles of their smile showing the depth of their soul.
And then there is the mere balance of life that has returned the ability to find joy in the day. The sense that years have been added to my life and that the quality of that life has returned.
All these little gifts while small in many ways are huge in the spectrum of a life. I am so grateful to you for bringing all this to me with your wonderful ability and talent to restore my vision. I am also grateful that you chose the career path you have so successfully taken and that I have so gratefully benefited from your choice.

"First of all, it has been three months since my LASIK procedure and I absolutely cannot be any happier about my new vision! "A couple of years ago, not having been to an ophthalmologist in the Austin area, and needing an eye examination for “floaters”, a friend suggested I see Dr. Henderson. His approach and demeanor removed most of my anxieties and fears about the symptoms and causes of the condition I had. During that examination we also discussed the cataracts which were developing in my eyes at that time. Because of that impression from my first visit, I recently returned to him and decided for cataract surgery on each eye. "I often hear people who have had LASIK say their biggest “win” is being able to see the alarm clock first thing in the morning without glasses or contacts. For me, the “win” is being able to fall asleep watching the TV and not worrying about rolling over my glasses in my sleep, or waking up in the middle of the night with a throbbing headache as my contacts have dried on my eyes.
A secondary “win” is being able to get up and go for a run without the assistance of contacts. As an avid runner, there’s nothing worse than being miles from home and losing a contact lens while in unfamiliar territory. Fortunately, this is no longer a concern. I’m also looking forward to being able to swim without goggles when the summer rolls around again!
From my initial visit with Alexis, to pre/post and surgery itself with Dr. Henderson, to now scheduled follow-ups with Dr. Prosise, I could not have asked for a better all around experience with the Eye Clinic of Austin. Dr. Henderson and his team did a fantastic job of communicating all aspects of the entire process, and I never once was concerned they did not have my best interest in mind.
