PERIPHERAL PRODUCTS

Contact Lenses

Staff at the Eye Clinic of Austin will try their best to fit patients with lenses that are appropriate.  If, in the judgment of our office, the lenses are well fitted and result in no medical problem to the patient’s eyes, there will be NO refund of the contact lens fee should the patient elect to discontinue wearing the lenses.  In those few instances where a medical contraindication may arise (allergic reactions, etc.) or vision or comfort is not satisfactory during the follow-up period and first month of regular wear of the lenses, 100% of the fee paid for the lenses will be refunded to the patient.  If the fitting was at a reduced or discounted price, there is NO refund.  All lenses and equipment must be returned to ECOA prior to issuance of a refund.

ECOA can exchange and/or refund patients for disposable contacts under the following conditions:

  • The exchange or refund is within 30 days of the original order date.
  • The lenses are in the original un-opened, undamaged packaging (including writing on the boxes).
  • If the contact lenses are determined to be defective from the manufacturer or not matching the patient’s submitted prescription and they are returned within 30 days of the original order date, ECOA will exchange the contact lenses at no additional charge.
  • If the doctor determines a change is necessary, ECOA can exchange lenses if they are in the original un-opened, undamaged packaging (including writing on the boxes) within the follow-up period or within 30 days following the follow-up period.
  • Shipping and Handling charges will not be refunded and new Shipping and Handling charges will apply if the patient desires this service for new lenses in an exchange.
  • ECOA cannot be held responsible for contact lens color dissatisfaction.  We advise patients to verify colors and/or tints at our office when dispensed.
  • Special order contact lenses are custom made to the patient’s prescription specifications and eye shape.  These orders cannot be cancelled and the contact lenses are not returnable.  There will be no refunds on special order contact lenses unless the unsuitability of the lens or lenses is a direct result of an error made by our manufacturer or the doctor.
  • RGPs, Conventional Spherical and Toric lenses may be exchanged or refunded under all the same conditions as disposable lenses except that they must be returned in the same condition issued (unless there is a manufacturing flaw), and always in their unmarked, undamaged vial packaging.
  • All individual manufacturing and insurance policies take priority over ECOA’s policy.

Even exchanges can be done at the time of the new lens order or a new lens dispensing if all conditions are met.

Exchanges that result in a higher cost to the patient will need to be paid in full (difference) prior to or at the time of dispensing.

Exchanges that result in a lower cost to the patient will generate a refund for the difference to the patient.

Contact Lens Refunds

Approved contact lens refunds will be processed within 3 days if refunded by credit card or 30 days if refunded by check.

  • Credit card refunds must be less than $500.00.
  • Refunds over $500.00 will be paid by check.
  • Cash will be refunded in cash if on the same day of service, otherwise cash refunds will be paid by check.
